Turkey’s policy over Armenian Genocide is caddish and impudent, the Bulgarian journalist and political analyst Georgy Kolarov said Wednesday during “Against the Crime of Genocide” global forum.

According to him, the Bulgarian people sympathize with the Armenian tragedy which occurred at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. “As you know, by virtue of the special geopolitical situation resulted by the WWI,  Bulgaria appeared on the side of central powers against its will, and even when Bulgarian and Turkish armies were fighting against the Russians, the border between Bulgaria and Turkey was open. And hundreds and thousands of Armenians escaped to Bulgaria’s territory, since it had no front line,” Georgy Kolarov said.

Referring to the question how he would describe Turkey’s policy with regard to the Armenian Genocide, the Bulgarian political analyst told Armenian News – NEWS.am: “I think Turkey’s policy shows imprudence and lack of elementary diplomatic tact, as well as reluctance to communicate with the rest of the world, if we consider that the whole world has already realized what exactly happened in 1915-23, and if Russia, the EU and the majority of US states tell Turkey to apologize, repent and recognize the Armenian Genocide, while nothing happens despite all this. The same is true in light of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statement that the European Parliament resolution will “go in one ear and out the other.”

Since Azerbaijan runs the same policy, we see a tendency of the Turkish world trying to isolate itself from the rest of the world, Kolarov said. “This is sad for our entire region – Balkans, Western Asia and the Middle East,” the Bulgarian political analyst added.
