The residents of Aghavnadzor, Meghradzor, and Marmarik villages of Armenia’s Kotayk Province, had closed off the motorway leading to Hankavan village and summer resort, early in the morning on Wednesday, and demanded an immediate restoration of irrigation water to their rural communities.

Secretary of the staff of the Aghavnadzor village hall, Makich Danielyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the villagers are unable to irrigate their vegetable gardens and plots for the past one week, and therefore the entire crop is drying.

“[Kotayk] Provincial Governor [Karapet] Guloyan told us that the pipeline of the cement factory was damaged, now they are repairing [it], [and] they will do everything to ensure irrigation [water] tomorrow [i.e. Thursday],” added Danielyan.

The villagers have reopened the motorway.
