YEREVAN. - Armenia’s Science and Education Minister Armen Ashotyan today received Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia Mohammad Raeisi. Welcoming the guest, Ashotyan touched on the present Armenian-Iranian cooperation in the sphere of education, as well as its development prospects.

During the meeting, the issues of the Iranian students studying in Armenia, mainly those concerning the organization of their education were discussed.  Ashotyan stressed that the Ministry is interested in a greater number of Iranian students arriving in Armenia to receive education. According to Ashotyan, the supervision of education quality has recently become stricter in Armenia, especially for foreign students so as to avoid the issue of recognition of Armenian diplomas abroad.

“This is the result of the consistent policy implemented by the Ministry. It will contribute to the increase in the number of foreign student expecting to receive quality education in Armenia,” the Minister said.

Mohammad Raeisi thanked the Ministry, stressing that the latter always supports the solution of issues related to the Iranian students. He also expressed readiness to contribute to the further implementation of Armenian-Iranian educational programs, stressing that multi-layer cooperation is present especially in the scientific research area.

The interlocutors also discussed the possibility of reciprocal visits of their countries’ delegations, which, according to them, will contribute to the implementation of new educational initiatives.
