YEREVAN. - The right of 3869 Armenian citizens to enter the territory of Russia was reinstated last year, Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations (MTAES) reports.

Last year 7843 citizens addressed the Migration Service requesting to remove the ban on entering Russia. The Armenian side sent the received applications to Russia. The Russian side made a decision on the 7220 applications.  Thus, the right to enter the territory of Russia was reinstated for 3869 Armenian citizens. The ban hasn’t yet been moved from 2093 people. The positive responses constituted 54 percent.

In connection with the toughening of the migration legislation in Russia over the last years, entrance ban was imposed on a significant number of Armenian citizens.

According to the agreement between the migration services of both countries, the State Migration Service of Armenian collects the citizens’ applications together with the document packages attached and sends them to the Federal Migration Service of Russia. The latter adopts decisions on the applications provided. The mentioned work has been launched since 28 May 2014.
