YEREVAN. – December of the year past was no exception in terms of the consistent reduction in retail trade in Armenia.

Trade in the country is “shaking” for the past two years.

Residents of the country have begun spending less money on buying products.

Clearly, the income of merchants has reduced accordingly.

These negative phenomena in Armenia are mainly due to the reduction in remittances from abroad.

In December 2015, retail trade in the country dropped by 19,2 percent on an annual basis, and as a result, the income crisis has deepened among numerous families.

The slowdown in sales has led to a reduction in the product resources of several goods.

Emigration, which has intensified in recent years, undoubtedly played a part here, too.

A part of the population in Armenia has switched from buying relatively expensive food to cheaper ones.
