YEREVAN. – In 2015, a total of 15,003 emergency situations were recorded in Armenia, and as a result, 442 people died and 9,226 others were injured. 

Director of the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations, Hovhannes Khangeldyan, stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Monday.

In his words, the number of emergencies in the country increased by 2,097 in the year past, as compared to 2014.

Khangeldyan added that 386 people died last year primarily due to traffic accidents.

“In 2015, the cases of fires and poisoning likewise were recorded a lot; 95 percent of the emergency cases,” he noted. “[But] the number of victims has decreased in 2015, as compared to 2014.”
