What do they want? How do they want to present the EU accession? They will tell the people: “you agreed to this process, you will get a unobstructed visa to go to Europe.” The leader of the opposition Tavush for the Homeland movement of Armenia, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, told this to a press conference Wednesday—and responding to the remark that there is talk of holding a referendum in Armenia on joining the EU, PM Nikol Pashinyan also spoke about the referendum, and to the question whether there is a concern that the declaration of Armenia’s independence will thus be abandoned in the name of going towards the West?

"At the moment, becoming a member of the EU is unrealistic in terms of depth and processes. Maybe at some point it will be possible, but it is an extremely arduous, difficult, and demanding process. What do they want? How do they want to present the EU accession? They will tell the people: ‘you agreed to this process, you will get a unobstructed visa to go to Europe.’ They will bring down to the level of that primitivism," Archbishop Galstanyan said.

According to him, under the name of "unobstructed access to Europe," the incumbent Armenian authorities will deceive the people, will try to change the constitution of Armenia, renounce the declaration of the country’s independence, etc.

"They don't have a chance in any other way. They won't have it in this way either because it's a deception. They will try. Let them try," added Galstanyan.
