YEREVAN. - Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan had a working meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills Thursday.

The Ombudsman and the Ambassador discussed issues related to the area of human rights, referring to the legislative and practical enhancement of human rights protection guarantees in Armenia.

The sides expressed readiness to strengthen and expand cooperation in a number of human rights-related areas of mutual priority.   

Ambassador Mills attached importance to the institute of Human Rights Defender and the activity of its staff, expressing readiness to discuss possible cooperation.

For his part, Arman Tatoyan underscored the importance of defending human rights and enhancing democratic values in Armenia, confirming his readiness to expand cooperation areas and initiate joint programs in the area of human rights together with the U.S. Embassy and experts.
