YEREVAN. – The German Bundestag (parliament) resolution will honor the Armenian Genocide victims.

Vice-president Edelgard Bulmahn of the Bundestag stated the aforesaid, at the National Assembly of Armenia, at the briefing with her Armenian colleague, Eduard Sharmazanov.

Bulmahn recalled that on June 2, the respective draft resolution will be put to a vote at the Bundestag.

She added that this resolution condemns the violations, which were committed against the Armenians and other Christian peoples in the Ottoman Empire.

“First of all, it is important to always keep alive the memory of the past,” said the deputy speaker of the German parliament. “And that is why we [i.e. the German MPs] will honor the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims, and, also, we will condemn the notorious role of the German Empire, which did not stop the crimes of its main ally [in World War I], the Ottoman Empire.

“We can help the societies of Armenia and Turkey find avenues to dialogue and together face their history.”
