Checkpoint of Lars, which was agreed to open for 4x4 light passenger cars  today , on July 4 , at 17: 00 pm , is still closed, said Hovhannes Khangeldyan, the head of the National Center for Crisis Management under the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations, to the NEWS.am.

"According to the information we received , the road should have been open today. However , it is still closed. That process will start tomorrow. The restoration works are not finished yet. They planned to open it. However , they told us that restoration works are still going in different parts of the road, and , probably , it will be open tomorrow. However , the checkpoint  will work for certain hours and for certain types of vehicles , " he said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Transport and Communication informed that on June 23 the checkpoint of Upper Lars at the Russian-Georgian border will open today , on July 4 , at 17: 00 pm for 4x4 light passenger cars  . As earlier reported,  over 50  Armenian citizens are still at the checkpoint; the issue of their transportation hasn’t been solved.
