The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Russia is disregarding the queries with respect to the case into Marat Ueldanov-Galustyan, a Russian citizen of Armenian origin, who is detained in Azerbaijan’s capital city of Baku.

The Russian MFA representatives have refused to verbally comment on the situation, and so far no response has been received to Armenian News-NEWS.am’s written inquiry which was sent in late July.

Ueldanov-Galustyan is an employee of the Austrian DO & CO company, which is engaged in outdoor catering, and he had gone to Baku on a business trip.

His sister told RusAm.info that on June 6, DO & CO had sent him on a business trip to the Formula 1 circuit in the Azerbaijan I capital city. Upon his return, however, he had established no contact.

Marat Ueldanov-Galustyan is accused of illegal manufacture, production, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment, or sale of drugs, psychotropic substances, or precursors.

According to Russian media, the Russian embassy in Azerbaijan asked his relatives to be understanding towards the peculiarities of this country, where “the Armenian origin makes his defense extremely difficult.”
