A resident of the Turkish city of Malatya called on the Turkish authorities to save the Armenian Tashoron church.

In an interview with Turkish media outlet, Sultan Kilic said that the doors and windows of the church were walled up with stones, but a hole has been recently made for people to get inside. Kilic noted that he had already appealed to the person responsible for this region, but got the following answer: “I am not responsible for this church, but everyone is demanding for my explanations. The residents of our region take care of the church. If it was located in some other place, it would have been destroyed long ago. I gave instruction to wall up the doors and windows for drunk or treasure hunters not to enter it. Everyone, including authorities, wants the church to be open but no one does anything for it. However, I still cherish hope,” he said.

Sultan Kilic took inside and outside photos of the church and sent his letter and the photos to the government. “Ministry of Culture, local administration, department on culture and tourism, where are you? Tashoron is injured, Tashoron is on the edge, but it wants to live,” he exclaims.
