The political alliance of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany and Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CDU/CSU) developed a foreign policy strategy for Russia in the Bundestag. It is stated in the document, which was unanimously adopted, DW reported.

The document said that Europe’s peace is under threat, therefore, the commonwealth of the European states cannot put with Russian aggression in Eastern Europe.

The block of conservative parties headed by the German chancellor Angela Merkel recommended the European Union to develop more effective defensive strategy within NATO. In particular, it is about strengthening of cooperation in the sphere of purchase of arms and in the field of air transport.

At the same time, the parliamentary faction CDU/CSU supported resumption of negotiations within the framework of “NATO-Russia Council”. It was offered to create joint body for confidence-building and prevention of crises, in particular, in the field of information security.
