In the framework of the working visit to Belgium, Diaspora Minister of Armenia Hranush Hakobyan on Monday had a number of meetings in Brussels. She was accompanied by the Armenian Ambassador to Belgium Tatul Margaryan.

In the morning, the Minister visited the Armenian Apostolic Church of Brussels, where she met with the vicar for the Western European patriarchal delegate, Ref. Father Zatik Avetikyan, and members of the parish council. At the meeting, issues related to the legal status of the Belgian Armenian community, its life and future actions were discussed.

In the evening another meeting was held in the Armenian House of Brussels, which was attended by about 200 active members of Belgium-based Armenian organizations, unions and communities. At the outset of the meeting, the Diaspora Minister presented the concept paper approaches of the Ministry, programs aimed at the Armenia-Diaspora cooperation, as well as the work carried out and further actions. Hranush Hakobyan also handed to the Armenian community letters of acknowledgement for the material and financial support provided by them in the days of the April War.

Apart from this, the Minister touched on the pan-Armenian movement ''What are you doing for Karabakh,'' urging the Belgian Armenians to also join the movement and constantly support the Artsakh people, contribute to the international recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, development of economy, as well as work aimed at solving the social and cultural issues in the country.  The Minister afterwards responded to the questions of those present.

Furthermore, the Minister handed certificates of honor to two teachers of an Armenian school—Liana Melkonian and Hripsime Harutunian—which operates adjunct to the Armenian House.
