YEREVAN. – Minister of Nature Protection, Artsvik Minasyan, on Tuesday received German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) Integrated Biodiversity Management, South Caucasus (IBiS) Armenia Team Leader, Carsten Schulz.

First, the minister thanked the GIZ for its assistance to Armenia, and expressed readiness to continue the collaboration, the Ministry of Nature Protection informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In the minister’s words, the biodiversity-oriented programs in Armenia need to be more targeted. He also underscored the assistance toward human resources development and capacity building in the country. Furthermore, Minasyan considered respective public awareness to be a priority.

Schulz, in turn, noted that the activities within the framework of the IBiS program are carried out intensely with three ministries of Armenia. He also assured that the GIZ can invest its capacity in order to get the best result from the project implementation. In addition, he pointed to the importance of appropriate strategy and legislative framework.

The interlocutors also discussed several other related matters.
