Foreign citizens who are residents of Armenia will receive maternity and child birth allowances. The suggested relevant amendments to the Law on State Benefits has been approved by the Cabinet on December 8.

The law envisages, that the foreign citizen will receive maternity benefit, if registered in the last three years (this period is calculated from the date of the maternity leave). A foreign citizen, whose child is born in Armenia, will receive a child birth allowance, only if the parent has been registered in Armenia no less than 3 years at the time of applying for the relevant benefits. In both cases, the benefits are not applicable, have they been designated by another State.
