Iranian archaeologist Mohammad Naserifard stated that the rock drawings, which he had discovered nearby Khomeyn, Iran, could be the world’s oldest rock etchings, according to Planet Today.

The archaeologist said he accidentally came across these rock drawings, when he had gone on a mountain trek with friends.

These rock etchings, however, had considerably faded over the course of time.

Animals and hunters performing ritual dances are depicted on these drawings.

According to researchers, these rock etchings are about 40 thousand years old.
