1 million school children in the world suffer from violence and mockery of fellow classmates. These data were presented at an international symposium in Seoul, which was organized by the UNESCO and the Institute for the Prevention of School Violence in South Korea, reports UN Radio.

The recent report of UNESCO analyzed data received from 19 low and middle-income countries. 34 percent of 11-13 year-old school students confessed, that they were subject to mockery at least once in a month, while 8 percent admitted that it happened every day.

According to UNESCO's Representative Christopher Castle, one of the main factors that fuels violence in schools is social status of children and poverty.
