YEREVAN. – The decision that the next Secretary General of the CSTO should be representative of Armenia was a general decision, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at the January 31 press conference summing up the results of 2016.

According to him, the CSTO secretariat has recently met to make a decision on the issue.  The draft decision was sent for confirmation of the foreign ministries of the participating countries. It will be presented at the next summit of the CSTO, while the date of the summit will be determined soon.

Armenia's representative was to be approved at the summit in Yerevan in October 2016, however, for formal reasons - lack of the President of Kazakhstan – the decision was delayed. A similar situation occurred at the summit in Moscow in December.
