By not condemning the crimes of the past, we allow them to recur in our days.

French President François Hollande announced the aforementioned on Thursday at the annual assembly of the Coordination Council of Armenian Organizations in France (CCAF), referring to overturning the law criminalizing the Armenian Genocide denial by the country’s Constitutional Council.

According to Nouvelle d’Armenie, Hollande underscored the importance of the work carried out in that direction, noting that it is necessary to continue the struggle, since it is a struggle for the truth.

Touching on the Armenian-French relations, the French President recalled that 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian-French diplomatic relations. He also informed that President Serzh Sargsyan has been invited to Paris on that occasion.

Within the framework of the official visit slated for March 8, the heads of the countries will discuss a number of issues. In Hollande’s words, in particular, reference will be made to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “It is important to find ways for the peaceful solution of that conflict,” he noted.

“We have gathered here to speak about the best in France. And you are the best in France,” François Hollande concluded, promising to always stand by the French Armenian community.
