Russia's Defense Ministry plans to deploy three military divisions on Kuril Islands this year. The Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu said, that in 2017, the Ministry will complete the deployment.

"We continue to actively work to protect Kuril Islands," Shoigu said, speaking at the State Duma. TASS reports, that the Defense Ministry plans to deploy three divisions at the western and south-western borders.
