The criminal court declared the supporter of the former Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak not guilty, calling the accusations of misappropriating public funds unfounded. Azmi’s brother and wife were acquitted in the same case.

This is the second trial against Zakaria Azmi, who was first sentenced to 7 years in prison in 2012 for corruption. A year later the Court of Appeal reviewed the case.
