YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is in the Belgian capital city of Brussels on a working visit, met with European People’s Party (EPP) President Joseph Daul, on Monday morning.

The interlocutors reflected on the prospects for the development of Armenia-European Union (EU) relations, the ongoing comprehensive reforms in Armenia, and the preparations for the parliamentary election to be held in the country in April, the press office of the President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In addition, Sargsyan and Daul discussed Armenia’s collaboration with the EPP partners, and the shared problems and challenges.

The President attached a great role to the EPP, as the most influential political force in Europe, in terms of deepening Armenia’s relations with EU. Also, he underscored collaboration with the EPP at various interparliamentary platforms.

The President of Armenia and the EPP leader also reflected on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Noting that this conflict remains a major challenge, President Sargsyan stressed that Armenia, as well as the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group Co-Chair countries (Russia, US, and France), see no alternative to a pacific settlement of this conflict. He added that Armenia, unlike Azerbaijan, does not wish at all that the region yet again sinks into the nightmare of war.
