YEREVAN. – Armenian actor and comedian Vardan Petrosyan has been released from prison.

A court in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan granted the motion for his parole.

Attorney Nikolay Baghdasaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, however, that the information, according to which Petrosyan was released by a presidential pardon, is false.

Vardan Petrosyan, who was found at fault in a car accident in October 2013 and which had claimed two lives, was sentenced to five years in prison. But as of  September 2015, he was serving three of these years in an open mode; that is, he was leaving the penitentiary as of 8am, but he had to be back inside by no later than 8pm. On the weekends, however, he had to remain in prison.
