YEREVAN. - The membership to the EAEU cannot give Armenia what the associated membership to the EU could, representative of Free Democrats, Anzhela Khachatryan, said on Friday during a debate with the representatives of Armenian political forces.  

The politician agreed that it would be unfair to accuse the EAEU of all the issues, including widespread corruption and shadow economy in Armenia. “We don’t insist on that. We simply say that the EAEU cannot give what the associated membership to the EAEU could.”

The politician then went to recall the decision on cancelling the meeting of EAEU prime minister in Yerevan after the April events. “Russia is the largest supplier of arms to Azerbaijan, Belarus being the second. I don’t even want to speak about the conduct of Belarus in respect of the renowned blogger. That is, the EAEU countries also suffer from corruption and human rights violations,” Khachatryan said, adding that if Armenia follows the political priorities of Europe, nothing keeps it back from being guided by the European values in economy.
