YEREVAN. - The memorial service for renowned historian and advisor to the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Vladimir Barkhudaryan, took place in Yerevan’s St Hovhannes Church on Saturday.

The service was led by Catholicos of Armenia Karekin II.

Former president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Chairman of the People’s Party of Armenia (PPA) Stepan Demirchyan, members of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), rector of the Yerevan State University (YSU) Aram Simonyan, as well as representatives of the academic circles attended the service.

The key directions of Barkudaryan’s research include the history of Armenian colonies, Armenian-Russian relations and Armenian historiography. He authors over 100 scientific works, including Armenian history textbooks.
