Disorders, the reason for which was the presence of a large number of Syrian refugees, took place in the Turkish city of Shanliurfa, RIA Novosti reported quoting Hurriyet.

It was noted, that the riots began after the policeman was injured intervening in a domestic quarrel between a woman and a man of allegedly Syrian origin, named Mehmet K. A crowd of 150 people first wanted to lynch Mehmet K., then looted shops of Syrians with slogans in support of the injured police officer.

The police managed to detain Mehmet K. and take him to the station. Damage was caused to property of Syrians. They hurried to close the shops, and the police surrounded quarter where the Syrians’ shops and cafes are located, to avoid a bigger damage.
