Washington has reacted cautiously to Brexit.

“We respect the will of the British electorate,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer said at Wednesday’s press briefing. “We want the UK to remain a strong leader in Europe, for both the EU and Europe to remain strong leaders globally.”

In his words, relations between Washington and London will remain unchanged, reported the German Deutsche Welle (DW) TV and radio company.

And when a reporter asked to comment on European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker’s statement that US President Donald Trump did not know a lot about Europe, Spicer responded: “The President is very well steeped in world affairs, especially Europe, NATO, all of the issues.”
