Emmanuel Macron and far-right leader Marine Le Pen have won the first round of French presidential elections, the exit poll shows.

Macron won 23.7%, while Ms Le Pen won 21.7%, BBC reported.

If elected, Emmanuel Macron will become the youngest president in the history of France.

The run-off is set for 7 May.
