Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Davit Lokyan, and Ararat Province Governor Aramayis Grigoryan on Saturday took part in the cleaning of the area surrounding the Khor Virap monastery. 

They took part in this nationwide Saturday-cleanup, which is held along the lines of the Clean Armenia program. 

Lokyan told reporters that it is apparent that people are taking part in this event at their own initiative, and it is important that they are aware of the need to keep Armenia clean. 

Grigoryan, for his part, said Ararat Province was among the leaders within the framework of this program, and noted that work was underway to close large landfills.
