YEREVAN. - Migration crisis is not a natural disaster but a race for power, former president of Mexico, Director of the Yale Center for the Study of Globalization, Ernersto Zedillo, stated on Sunday, speaking during the second day of Aurora Dialogues interactive dialogues held at Matenadaran Institute of Ancient Manuscripts in Yerevan (photos).

In his words, the migrant issue is neither the creation of God nor a natural disaster. According to Zedillo, this phenomenon has a human origin: it was created by politicians who care for power.

Referring to the 10 million refugees from Syria, the former president noted that this is an alternative war waged by those who want to gain power in Syria. He also added that in South Sudan almost 2 million have been displaced, 7 million people being in need of humanitarian help and another 100,000 being on the brink of starvation.

It is our responsibility to give voice to those who don’t have it and tell them to rise up and make use of the instruments, which the humanity possesses, Mr Zedillo stressed, adding that business and international community certainly play a constructive role here.
