The balance of armament in the Karabakh conflict zone is unshakable, State Secretary-Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigoriy Karasin told haqqin.az on Monday.

“The Karabakh issue is indeed a serious “knot”of quite fierce discussions on the international platform but we are interested in kick starting the process and maximally contributing to the settlement of the conflict, Yes, Russia is an OSCE Minsk Group co-chair and actively works in this troika. And if I am not mistaken, in 2013, the presidents of the three OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing states stated that they are ready to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the conflict, but the main task to achieve the conflict settlement is on the shoulders of the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents.  We will, for our part, continue working in this direction,” Karasin said.

Referring to the accusations on the violation by Russia of the balance though supplying Iskanders to Armenia, Karasin noted: “We supply arms not only to Armenia but also Azerbaijan. Considering the fact that although Armenia is our CSTO ally, there is a concept of responsible attitude to supplies, and I think this is quite peculiar to the conduct of the Russian Federation.”
