YEREVAN. – President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Ara Babloyan, on Tuesday received the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, James Appathurai.

Babloyan stated that Armenia’s relations with NATO are based on partnership, the NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

In his words, Armenia’s engagement in the NATO Partnership for Peace program is considered an important component of the multi-layered security system of the country.

Also, the Parliament speaker said Armenia plans to increase the current pace of collaboration with NATO, and underscored parliamentary collaboration with this organization.

Appathurai, for his part, assessed NATO-Armenia relations as trustworthy and reliable relations that satisfy both sides. In addition, he thanked Armenia for taking part in NATO peacekeeping operations. 

The NATO representative added that there will be new programs of interest to Armenia in the future.
