The painting of famous Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh “Plowed field and ploughman” of 1889 was sold during an auction in New York for $81.3 million, the site of auction house Christie’s reports.

The view from the window from French clinic where Van Gogh spent the last years of his life is depicted on the canvas. The assessed value of the painting is more than $50 million.

Also, a painting of one of the founders of abstractionism Wassiliy Kandinski “The Improvisation with Horses” was sold for $12.7 million, Iz.ru informs.

Marc Chagalls work “The vase of flowers” was sold for $4.5 million. The paining of one of the founders of impressionism Claude Monet “Morning on the Seine” was gone for $23.4 million. And finally, Pablo Picassos “Jacqueline” was sold for $36.9 million.

In total, 60 works from the private collection of American philanthropist Perry Bass and his wife Nancy Lee, who passed away a couple of years ago, were exhibited.

The total amount of money collected after the auction was $479 million.
