Austria's Constitutional Court has legalized the same-sex couples marriage, Independent reported.

According to the website of Austria's Constitutional Court, the decision will come into force on December 31, 2018.

In a ruling announced Tuesday, the court said that the words “two people of different sex” will be removed from the law on marriage on the grounds that the distinction is discriminatory.

The Constitutional Court examined a law following a complaint from two women who were refused permission to enter a formal marriage by authorities in Vienna.
