Seven religious communities have been terminated in Azerbaijan, because of the non-compliance of these communities with the requirements of the legislation, contact.az reported.

According to the source, only two religious communities were registered. There is no additional information on the deregistered and registered communities.

Reregistration process has been conducted since 2009. Altogether 783 religious communities are registered in the country.

Some religious communities have not been reregistered, ascribed to discrimination. The State Committee explained this by the non-compliance of their documents with the requirements of legislation.

The US Department of State reports on freedom of religion highlighted for several times the violation of believers' rights in Azerbaijan and the refusal of communities to the official register.
