Hawaiian authorities have changed the procedures for alerting the population of the state about emergency situations due to a false alarm, the USA Today reported citing the head of the local emergency service Verna Miyagi.

He told that they adopted new instructions on notifying emergencies after a malfunction. Activation and verification of test and valid notifications of an approaching missile will now be carried out by two employees of the service. Miyagi added that from now on they will be able to cancel the false notification in case of error within seconds.

Earlier, the  U.S. authorities said that the incident with a false warning of the missile threat in Hawaii was due to the lack of the necessary precautions and control of such alerts.

According to the head of the U.S. Federal Communication Commission Ajit Pai, the government of Hawaii did not have reasonable precautions or control mechanisms to prevent false warnings.

Earlier on Saturday a message was spread in Hawaii that a ballistic missile flies towards the state; people were urged to find asylums as soon as possible and assured that it was not a training alarm. Later, the Pacific Command of the U.S. Armed Forces said that this message was sent by mistake.
