Armenia joins the International Maritime Organization, whose membership was ratified by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on January 19, Marinelink reported.

According to the source, Armenia became the 173rd country among the members of the International Maritime Organization, with a further three associate members. (Faroe Islands, Hong Kong, Macau).

Since 1959, the International Maritime Organization is United Nation’s specialized agency devoted to maritime affairs and designed to enhance safety, security and efficiency in shipping engaged in international trade.
