YEREVAN. – Under the new Prime Minister, governmental sessions in Armenia will be held behind closed doors.

The Minister of Justice, Davit Harutyunyan, presented the respective bill at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.

He said the law stipulates that the Prime Minister shall ensure the publicity of government activities.

The aforementioned draft law states that the government sessions will be closed. But by the decision of the Prime Minister, a part of these sessions may be held openly.

In addition, government members will have no right to disclose information about the discussion process of any matter discussed in the government, without the Prime Minister’s permission.

To this day, Armenian government sessions were open, except when discussing classified matters.
