Saudi Arabian Ministry of Justice has canceled the law that forced Saudi women to stay with their husbands against their will.

This initiative has become a part of the country’s historic changes aimed at women’s involvement in social life, and their having equal rights and freedoms as the men.

According to Okaz newspaper, now Saudi women who wish to cancel their marriage contract with a man will be able to either divorce with their husbands by mutual accordance, or file a respective lawsuit with the court.

The husband, on the other hand, will not be able to demand from his wife to return to him if she had left him.
