At least nine people died as a result of heavy rains in the Tanzanian city of Dar es Salaam, Reuters reported.

Over the past three days, nine people died as the result of heavy rains flooded homes and roads, police chief Lazaro Mambosasa told reporters.

According to the source, residents have sought refuge on the roofs of houses, while the authorities have instructed to close schools from April 17.
