Russia hopes that the replacement of the CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov will not affect the organizations’ work, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin said.

According to him, the Russian side, like other member states, is interested in ensuring that the situation around the Secretary General will have the least impact on the coherence of the CSTO's activities.

“The Armenian side initiated early termination of Yuri Khachaturov's powers in this post, the process is launched and is being implemented within the CSTO procedures.”

According to him, a number of important events, including the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council on November 8 this year in Astana are scheduled, where the heads of state will consider a set of issues for the further development of the organization,” he said adding that now “work in the CSTO is proceeding without failures, and all decisions taken are implemented systematically.”
