YEREVAN. – The construction of a building below 1903m is illegal on the shore of Lake Sevan, said Armenian Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan at the parliamentary hearings on Friday.

According to him, all structures below the established mark are illegal, with the exception of hydraulic structures or pumping stations, preserved from Soviet era.

“There are cases when people received a certificate of ownership, but a specific notary or the judge did not take into account the restrictions, because all these buildings are illegal,” he said.

According to preliminary calculations on the demolition of the buildings, a large amount of money is necessary for the demolition of 1 square meter.

Asked to comment, whether any of the owners has already demolished their buildings, the minister only noted that the number of such buildings reaches about 4 – 4.5 thousand.
