YEREVAN.- If there is an unreasonable growth of salaries or allowances, then this will further worsen poverty rates, the Minister of Finance of Armenia, Atom Janjughazyan, stated the above-said at a press conference on Thursday. He noted this as he presented the 2019 State Budget draft.

“So, if we cannot raise salaries and allowances based on our capabilities, then the only way is to incur debt. And this cannot be justified from any point of view, ”said Janjughazyan.

Asked whether Armenia will continue to incur debts, the minister replied: “Yes, we’ll borrow, but the problem is whether this will lead to an improvement or worsening of our condition. If the state borrows to create a new asset that will lead to new revenues, then we are likely to take it.
