YEREVAN. – While in Paris, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Armen Sarkissian discussed the present-day situation in Armenia.

Pashinyan on Monday told about the abovementioned to reporters. “We will again discuss the situation,” he added, in particular.

“During my stay in Paris, some events have taken place [in Armenia], and which we will definitely take into account,” the PM also said. “In particular, Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s [TV] interview; and in fact, he supported the idea of holding snap [parliamentary] elections in December. Also by the results of that interview, I’m also going to meet with Mr. Tsarukyan (…). I believe there will be a meeting also with the [Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF)] Dashnaktsutyun [Party].”

Pashinyan added that even though he will de jure resign as PM, he will not step down de facto.

“I see that now there is a huge public unease, discontent in that connection,” the Premier stressed, above all. “We need to see to it that this situation—with all its delicacies—will be comprehensible to the public, since I shouldn’t do any action to put the people’s power at risk—even theoretically.

“But we have to do snap [parliamentary] elections (…) to pass from this barricade mode to everyday working mode, and achieve concrete results.”
