The swearing-in of Yerevan mayor-elect Hayk Marutyan will be held on Saturday; this decision was reached at Wednesday’s first meeting of the new council of elders of Armenia’s capital city.

The inauguration will take place at Yerevan Municipality.

Snap Yerevan municipal council elections were conducted on September 23. As a result, the My Step bloc won 57 seats, the Prosperous Armenia Party—5 seats, and Luys (Light) bloc—3 seats in the 65-seat Yerevan Council of Elders

And Hayk Marutyan, who headed the electoral list of the My Step bloc, automatically became the next mayor of Yerevan because this political force garnered more than 50 percent of the votes; and in this case, according to the law, the person who heads the electoral list of the given political force is considered mayor-elect.
