The UN Security Council has confirmed exemption of sanctions against North Korea providing the two Korean states with a possibility to implement a project on connection the railway systems, DW reported.
The South needed an exemption from the United Nations sanctions regime for that to happen.
The sides agreed on a joint survey to connect railway systems during a summit earlier this year.
