YEREVAN. –  Violations of the ceasefire regime by Azerbaijan have recently decreased in number, said acting Defense Minister of Armenia Davit Tonoyan told reporters of leading Russian news outlets on December 1.

Addressing the issue of the General Secretary of CSTO Tonoyan underlined that Armenia has its own candidate for the position and is ready to carry on with its responsibilities. The acting minister also addressed the Armenian-Russian partnership noting that the military cooperation is very important for Armenia.

Speaking about the situation on the line of contact and border between Armenia and Azerbaijan Tonoyan noted that recently the violations of the ceasefire regime by Azerbaijan have decreased in number. He also mentioned the fact of communication line between the countries noting that before Azerbaijan and Armenia could only get in touch through the Red Cross and OSCE:, while the newly established connection might help decrease borderline tensions and violations of ceasefire.

Tonoyan also said that Armenia would continue providing humanitarian aid to the victims of the Syrian conflict and the Armenian community in Syria.
