The United States will leave “a small peacekeeping group” of 200 American troops in Syria for a period of time after the US pullout, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement, the Voice of America reported.

US President Donald Trump in December ordered a withdrawal of the 2,000 American troops in Syria, despite the international coalition’s continued fight against the remaining Islamic State militants there.
