YEREVAN. – The current government of Armenia has not implemented but one reform which it was obligated to implement within the framework of the Armenia-European Union Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

Armen Ashotyan, vice-chairman of the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), stated about the abovementioned at a press conference on Monday.

Ashotyan noted that, even though last December the government was to approve—as a government decision—the sequence of activities derived from the Armenia-EU cooperation program, there is no such program yet.

The RPA official stressed that the incumbent Armenian government has made no progress in attracting funds from the EU.

In Ashotyan’s view, the slowing down of the Armenia-EU CEPA ratification process is yet another problem.

He added that time frames are no longer noted in the Armenia-EU visa liberalization discourse.

Also, as per the RPA vice-chairman, it is symbolic that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Brussels is kicking off these days.

“There is no progress in Pashinyan’s government program in the context of the Armenia-EU relations and agreement,” Armen Ashotyan concluded. “And according to the preliminary report, no documents of primary political importance will be signed in the education and IT sector.”

The Armenia-European Union Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement was signed on November 24, 2017 in Brussels.
